Before we get too involved in how to evangelize and the different ways to do it, we will start with something one of my favorite authors, Mark Cahill has shared in one of my favorite books One Heartbeat Away.
When we share Jesus Christ with someone, there are three possible outcomes according to Mark.
One, they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, which is good.
Two, we plant a seed, which is also good.
Three, they reject us, which in reality means they are rejecting Jesus, which is bad.
Out of the three possible outcomes when sharing Jesus with someone you have a 67% success rate. Not too bad.
But if we take a look at a couple Bible verses, we will learn something different. Let's take a look.
1 Peter 4:14 tells us, “If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.”
Sounds pretty good. But wait, there is even more.
Luke 6:22-23 says, “22 Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. 23 “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.”
This gives us a different picture of the three possible outcomes.
The first two remain the same - good, but the third option of being rejected changes from a bad thing to a good thing which changes our possible good outcomes when sharing Jesus with someone to a 100% success rate.
You cannot lose when sharing Jesus with someone. What are you waiting for?
