Home Church Info

A House Church is the Body of Christ that meets in smaller groups (typically 6-12 people) in someone’s home or really any location. We laugh, fellowship, pray, worship, do in-depth Bible studies, break bread, build relationships, and become fully committed disciples of Jesus Christ. If you are looking for more “red meat” in your Bible learning while you fulfill Hebrews 10:25, a House Church may be for you.

House Churches should be non-denominational and study directly out of the Bible.

Although the House Church is the only church model described in the Bible it fell into relative obscurity in Western culture. House Churches flourish in much of the world and while the institutional American church is losing millions per year, in Africa, Asia, India, and China the House Church is growing rapidly.

House Churches have many benefits, especially in a world of shutdowns and restrictions due
to coronavirus. Of course, House Churches will have its detractors and they must be done
properly to help avoid some of the same problems large churches may or may not have or
create a whole new list of them. There will be those that tell you House Churches are wrong
and some may even tell you they are not Biblical. Those that tell you such things will

most likely be part of an institutional church.

While there many benefits of a large church, there are also many benefits of a House Church,
as you will see once you join or start one. Again, to get the most benefit out of a House Church,
they must be done right.

There are also a number of things that should be avoided or done a certain way to
make your House Church and its network successful.

1.) You must always be growing. The end of growth is the end of discipleship.
2.) You must always be sharing Jesus Christ with others. In today’s technologically advanced
world there are many, many ways to share Jesus with a world that sorely needs Him.
3.) Always include others, especially non-believers.
4.) Always be raising leaders as House Church Networks tend to grow quickly.
5.) Decide on a maximum size (usually 8-20 people) and when you reach that size - split and grow.
6.) Have a schedule with structure.
7.) Decide on what type of leadership you are going to have, a single leader, or shared leadership.
8.) Reach your community with specific outreaches.
9.) Once your Network grows, have occasional large group meetings and leadership meetings.
10.) If you have a single leader, make sure to follow Biblical criteria.
11.) Set goals - multiplication goals, evangelical goals, leadership goals, study goals, etc . . .
12.) Always keep it Biblical and in context. Teaching can stray from the Bible or

be taught out of proper context.
13.) Be friendly and welcoming to those who want to learn more.

Invite them to see what it is all about.
14.) Do not let pride enter in any way. House Church is just one way to do church,

NOT the only way.
